WHERE IS LJUBJANA AIRPORT, SLOVENIA?
Ljubljana Airport is also known as Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport or Ljubljana Brnik after the town where it is located.
In Slovene it is known as Letališce Jožeta Pučnika Ljubljana or Aerodrom Brnik Ljubljana.
It is located some 30km north of Ljubljana and driving time is around 20 minutes. From Bled, it is about 35km south and also around 30 minutes drive.
In 2021, the airport unveiled a brand new terminal which was designed to double capacity and improve the flow of passengers making it easier for visitors and staff.
At a cost of 25 millions euros, approximately 10,000 square metres of new floor space has been added to include two baggage claim carousels, an additional 14 check-in desks (22 in total),
five security lanes, refurbished restaurant and retail spaces, a larger duty-free shop, a business lounge and an improved baggage sorting area.
It can now comfortably handle 1250 passengers per hour.
The outside space was also improved to include new parking spaces and areas for transport pick up/drop offs and even a small park.
But the improvements and enhancements are set to continue with further upgrades to the business lounge and new self-service bag drop off points.

by BUS
Buses are easy to catch and go every hour on weekdays and every few hours on weekends. They stop at the main bus station in Ljubljana centre.
A good choice if you are not in a hurry.
To reach Ljubljana Airport from Ljubljana, then check the local bus timetables:
ARRIVA BUS LINES - around 3.70€ per trip - with local stops - approx 1-1.5 hour - cash, no card.

NOMAGO BUS LINES - around 12€ per trip - Direct - approx 40 minutes - cash, no card.

If paying on the bus, it is cash only but be aware busses can arrive full with no seats unless prepaid.
Can I use my Ljubljana Card on the bus?
Yes, the Ljubljana Card can be purchased at the airport which entitles you to one return airport trip.
The local buses (Arriva) take the Ljubljana card. Nomago buses don't.

As you come out of the terminal there will be several taxi companies trying to get your business for a shared transfer usually in an 8 seater van.
The more people the cheaper it is, so it can come down depending on the company rates. A popular choice as you can leave immediately and not wait for a bus.

by NORMAL TAXI:
If you go by the rule of thumb that 1km = 1euro then the trip by taxi should be around 30€. We've heard some lucky people getting a ride for 25€ but also some not so lucky people being taken for a ride literally
at 60€. It probably averages out at around 40€ so use that as a guide.

AIRLINES THAT USE LJUBLJANA AIRPORT, SLOVENIA
Because Slovenia is a small country with smaller traffic numbers, Ljubljana Airport is served by a handful of major carriers and many low-cost carriers like Wizz.
Therefore the timetables, airlines and destinations are constantly changing. There are a lot of charter flights as well in the mix. Traffic is constantly growing as Ljubljana seeks new opportunities to become a hub
in the region.
TERMINAL FACILITIES AT LJUBLJANA AIRPORT
Car Rental Offices:
Are all located across the road from the main terminal in the car park building.

Bars and Restaurants:
Like all airports, Ljubljana Airport offers several dining options including bars and cafes for a quick snack or drink and a fine dining restaurant.
You can also enjoy watching the planes from the observation deck cafe terrace. Smokers will enjoy the outdoor terrace when the weather is nice.
Internet:
Free WiFi Internet access is offered in the main passenger terminal and the General Aviation Centre. The Airport public connection is an open type,
which means that to get online you do not need any keys or security settings on the device you are connecting to the Internet.
Parking:
Ljubljana Airport has 3200 car park spaces for travellers and visitors.
There is a drop and go short term stop as soon as you align with the terminal for 15 minutes.
Cars are housed in either 1300 space multi-storey car park, or P1 and P2 open air car parks with 1900 spaces.
Patrons must pay for their parking at the 24 hour cashier counter in the airport terminal and they then have 15 minutes to leave the airport.
The airport has also opened a public electric vehicle charging station. It is located near Terminal A at parking P1. It features four charging points,
which for now are capable of providing energy for eight electric vehicles. The first 3 stations have 6 charging points (22kw units) and the 4th is an ultra fast station with 2 points at 150kw.
It will be expanded as needed in the future.
Shops:
Ljubljana Airport offers several duty free stores plus a souvenir shop, general store and jeweller.
Go Karting:
Not sure how you would fit this into your airport timings, but there is a go-kart track next to the airport! Prokarting is open during the warmer months and has a well stocked bar for refreshments too!
Telemach Prokarting boasts a technically demanding track (7 to 11 metres wide, 500 metres long) and is considered a true driving challenge!
