Your Ultimate Guide to Ski Resorts in Slovenia
welcome
dobrodošli
Sloveniaforyou
Slovenia's no1 independent website!
Skiing is a national pastime in Slovenia, so it's no surprise to see the slopes buzzing with activity once the season begins.
In comparison to the nearby resorts in Italy, Austria and Switzerland, Slovenia's ski resorts may be seem to lack in sophistication and apres-ski facilities but make up for it with cheaper prices,
shorter queues and the knowledge that in most cases you'll be mixing it with the locals rather than the international jetset crowd.
Having said that, Slovenia's ski resorts are far from shabby. The larger resorts have great facilities and are well maintained. Throw in some amazing views and you're all set for a great holiday!
So what are you waiting for? Have a browse through the ski resorts and find a ski resort that suits you.

SUMMARY:
: A nice bonus if staying in Bled and you weren't planning on skiing!
: A great resort for the kids and beginners
: Great tubing and night skiing
: No serious skiing but great if you don't feel up to the larger resorts
DESCRIPTION:
One doesn't need a reason to visit the magnificance of Bled at any time, but the ski slope at nearby Straza is another reason
to entice you to Bled during the winter months. The small hill is only 645m high, so there is no serious skiing to be had here,
but the main red downhill run is FIS approved and is 400m in length.
The resort is perfect for some family fun and recreational activity whilst in Bled.
At the bottom of the slope you will find Sporty's Snow Park. Here youngsters can join "Zajc Sporty" and have fun
learning how to ski. There is a children's ski lift and varied activities and elements to keep them busy while the parents
watch on or go skiing themselves.
Due to mild winters and the high tempearture of the lake water, the resort is almost entirely dependant on artifical snowmaking.
For extra fun, the resort is also lit up at night for those who might want some after dark frollicking in the snow.
Tubing is fun for all and is another activity offered.
OPEN: Dates will vary according to snow but opening times can be late December or early January.
Times are usually from 0900-1600 (day) 1700-2000 (night skiing)
SNOWBOARDING:
Bled offers snowboarding on the marked ski runs for beginners but is lacking in opportunities for serious snowboarders.
We suggest you try nearby Vogel, Cerkno, Krvavec or Kranjska Gora.
ACCOMMODATION/NIGHTLIFE:
Take your pick! Being Slovenia's leading tourist location, Bled offers everything from top class hotels to charming little guests houses.
There are numerous restaurants, bars and retail shops to visit and Bled even has a casino for those feeling lucky!

Kobla has opened again in 2021/2022 on a small scale with the Kozji Hrbet operating one ski lift for a 440m run above Bohinjska Bistrica.
The turnout was encouraging as locals got behind the new development.
When the finishing touches have been put on it, the ski resort will cover more than 1.5 million square meters between Bohinjska Bistrica and Soriška planina.
It will be the first ski resort in the country to employ the latest and the most advanced lift and artificial snow-making technology.
The largest Slovenian ski resort will also feature a renovated platform for hitting the slopes by train, heated lockers, parking garages, top-notch restaurants,
points for enjoying the area's beautiful vistas, forest attractions, a snow park, a ski-cross course for both children and adults, sledding trails,
a day-care, and much, much more. The 10-seat gondola will take visitors to the summit all year round, including during the summer, when mountain cyclists
will get their turn to enjoy the bike park, which was designed in collaboration with world-renowned Whistler Gravity Logic from Canada.
The range of summer attractions will also include a theme park, well-groomed hiking trails along the ridge with stellar views all the way from the Adriatic to Triglav,
and something for the history buff, too, in the form of a restored watchtower, bunkers, and other relics from the war.
This is the dream, and you have to feel for the developers who have had to wait an eternity to get the necessary permits to proceed! Stay tuned.
